Hello, I’m Ethan

I am graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in Experience Architecture this spring. I focus on creating innovative products and experiences that are meaningful to users. I have a passion for human-centered design and a dedication to deliver high quality products for users.

As a UX Designer and Researcher, I aim to understand my users thoroughly. I believe users should be at the forefront of any design and product, and this ideal is what drives my work.

My Design Process

Double Diamond Methodology

I use the double diamond method as a framework for my design process. While it is not the end all be all, I believe the structure it holds can lead to valuable insight no matter where in the design process I am.

The double diamond is a great framework because of the iterative design practices it holds. The left diamond is about understanding the users and their needs, while the right side is dedicated to solving defined problems. The main idea is iteration over the design and targeting pain points for users.

Empathy

I am an advocate for the user first and foremost. Users are at the center of all my design decisions and I believe understanding is the key to success.

Honesty

Being able to talk openly and having direct communication is important to me. I believe that a team works better when everyone asks questions and is involved.

Determination

I am dedicated to solving problems. i strive to put my best foot forward and create engaging solutions.

Creative Thinking

I solve complex issues by pulling from my knowledge and seeking out new ideas. I believe that creativity is the driving force behind helping users.

Lifelong learning and self-development are important to me. I strive to always improve my knowledge in every project I do.

There is no “I” in team and I believe that we should support each other all the time. I believe in sharing information and being there to support myself and others in our goals and in life.

My Hobbies

Fencing

I have been fencing foil for 8 years and I hope to continue for many years in the future. Fencing is a great way for me to relax and decompress.

Miniature Making

Recently I have gotten into miniature making with recyclables. Currently, I am working on a Nook's Cranny from Animal Crossing, New Horizons.
